Reference works such as art dictionaries and encyclopedias, biographical directories of artists, museum directories, indexes to reproductions, and art history bibliographies are shelved in the reference section.
The UW Libraries Homepage provides access to a number of indexes in subjects related to the study of art, including Art Abstracts, Bibliography of the History of Art, Arts & Humanities Citation Index, Avery Index to Architectural Periodicals, Anthropological Literature, Dissertation Abstracts, Historical Abstracts, and International Medieval Bibliography. Most are restricted to UW users.

Decimal Index of the Art of the Low Countries - research collection of postcard size reproductions of Dutch and Flemish paintings and prints arranged by subject.Microfiche collections, including the New York Public Library Artists File, Index of American Design, and the Index Iconologicus.
