DATABASES

(Note: The UW Libraries Catalog and NTIS on the Web are available to all. Only UW-affiliated users can access the other databases.)

UW LIBRARIES CATALOG The Libraries Catalog includes the book and journal holdings of all of the University of Washington Libraries collections. You can search for materials by title words, author names, subject headings, and keywords. Remember: the catalog will tell you if we own a journal but not about the contents of the journal. The Catalog is NOT the database to use to identify journal articles.

AQUATIC SCIENCES AND FISHERIES ABSTRACTS (ASFA) 1971+ ASFA indexes approximately 4500 journals worldwide covering all aspects of marine, freshwater and brackish water environments. Also, includes technical reports and conference papers.

GEOREF 1785+ The Georef database covers all aspects of the geosciences, including mineralogy, geochemistry, paleontology and hydrogeology. It indexes journal articles, books, reports, meeting publications, dissertations, theses and maps.

METEOROLOGICAL & GEOASTROPHYSICAL ABSTRACTS Indexes the world's literature on meteorology, climatology, physical oceanography, hydrology, glaciology, geophysics, and environmental science. Covers 1981 to the present. On the Web. UW only.

NTIS, 1964+ Indexes and abstracts U.S. Government-sponsored research, development, and engineering reports and analyses distributed by the National Technical Information Service. Includes NOAA technical reports. NTIS is also available for free on the Web covering the years 1990 to the present, usually without abstracts. Choose the "title search" option.

SOUND ACCESS Includes scientific and policy related materials covering Puget Sound and the adjacent inland waters. Indexes state and local documents, journal articles, technical reports and unpublished materials. Coverage ends with 1991.

WATER RESOURCES 1967+ Water Resourses Abstracts indexes journal articles, books and technical reports. It covers water resources as treated in the life, physical and social sciences and related engineering and legal aspects.

The CATALOG OF UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT PUBLICATIONS from the Superintendent of Documents, can be used to identify information available in Federal Depository Libraries. Bibliographic records since 1994 are included. The University of Washington Libraries is a Federal Depository Library.
