Fisheries-Oceanography Library

Compiled by the librarians at the Fisheries-Oceanography Library, University of Washington. This is not an exhaustive list but rather a starting point. If you need help finding information, ask a librarian for assistance.

Databases

(Note: The UW Libraries Catalog and NTIS on the Web are available to all. Only UW-affiliated users can access the other databases.)

UW LIBRARIES CATALOG The Libraries Catalog includes the book and journal holdings of all of the University of Washington Libraries collections. You can search for materials by title words, author names, subject headings, and keywords. Remember: the catalog will tell you if we own a journal but not about the contents of the journal. The Catalog is NOT the database to use to identify journal articles.

AGRICOLA, 1970- Agricola covers over 3 million records covering every major agricultural subject, including aquaculture. 1970 to the present. Updated monthly.

AQUATIC SCIENCES AND FISHERIES ABSTRACTS (ASFA) 1971+ ASFA indexes approximately 4500 journals worldwide covering all aspects of marine, freshwater and brackish water environments. Also, includes technical reports and conference papers. Available in all science library units.

GEOBASEAn index to the international literature of geography, ecology, earth science and marine science. Current coverage includes articles from 3000 journals as well as books, maps, etc. Updated quarterly.

Life Sciences Collection, 1982- Life Sciences Collection (LSC) indexes research literature in the biological, medical and agricultural sciences from over 5,500 journals, with selective coverage of books. Updated monthly.

NTIS, 1964 + Indexes and abstracts U.S. Government-sponsored research, development, and engineering reports and analyses distributed by the National Technical Information Service. Includes NOAA technical reports. NTIS is also available for free on the Web covering the years 1990 to the present, usually without abstracts.

Water Resources Abstracts Covers water resources as treated in the life, physical and social sciences, plus related engineering and legal topics. Includes abstracts of current and earlier journal articles, monographs, reports, and other publication formats. 1967 to present.
