The National Security Archive
-
Digital National Security Archive (UW Restricted)
- The National Security Archive
(an independent, non-governmental research institute and library located at The George Washington University in Washington, D.C. which has archived a large number of declassified documents, acquired through the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA))
- To search the networked National Security Archive index on CD-ROM, go to the Libraries Research
Databases and enter National Security Archive. Because it is a networked CD-ROM, so you will have to be at a UW Libraries public workstation to view it.
- Many of the microfiche are organized by large topic --for example, "Iraqgate: ...(1980-1994)", "Military Uses of Space, 1946-1991", etc.---and can most easily be found in the UW Libraries Catalog with a keyword search on National Security Archive. Or, to get a list of all the subject groupings, search by author by entering this exact syntax: National Security Archive U S.
The microfiche are housed in Microforms & Newspapers (Ground Floor, Suzzallo Library). Printed guides accompany the microfiche sets. These topical collections are an excellent means to obtain primary source documents on complex federal government issues.
