Best bets for confirming that a government report is owned by the UW Libraries (all years)

The UW Libraries is an 85% federal depository library. Many, but not all, government documents are housed in Government Publications on the Ground Floor of Suzzallo Library.

UW Libraries Catalog

Type the title of a U.S. government document into the UW Libraries Catalog as either a title or keyword search. See the following record for an example of a government document that the Libraries holds in both paper and online format. Our collection is cataloged only back to 1976. We are working every day to extend our cataloging backward in time to include all holdings, including older materials, such as this 1854 document from the Secretary of War.

Other catalogs

Verify the document's existence by looking it up in Summit (academic libraries in Oregon and Washington), MarciveWeb DOCS (a catalog of U.S. government publications back to 1976), or OCLC WorldCat (always on the list of the UW Libraries top research databases; a global online library catalog containing over 52 million records compared to the UW Libraries 6 million volumes). In finding a proper citation for a document, you may also search the web using Google Unclesam, traditional Google, or search engines like AllTheWeb.com, Yahoo, HotBot, or MSN Search. Make sure you ask at Government Publications even if it appears that the item is not owned by the UW Libraries.
