Intersections: Gender, History and Culture in the Asian Context

Call for Papers

Intersections: Gender, History and Culture in the Asian Context
Issue 8 - Deconstructing Popular and Diasporic Images
and Call for Paper

Anne-Marie Medcalf and Carolyn Brewer are now pleased to announce that the eighth issue of the online refereed journal _Intersections: Gender, History and Culture in the Asian Context_ (School of Asian Studies and SSHE Research) has been posted to the net at: http://wwwsshe.murdoch.edu.au/intersections

Drawing from the fields of history, literature and cultural studies this issue focuses on representations of women both in popular literature and in diasporic texts, and on diasporic identity. It also showcases a special foray into the world of popular photography in India and Bangladesh (see table of contents of papers and book and film reviews section below).

We are also calling for papers for the ninth and tenth issues of _Intersections_ due for publication in April/May 2003 (deadline 15 January 2003) and October 2003 (deadline 15 June 2003). Issue Nine will focus on gender, local worlds and globalisation while issue Ten will present papers around the theme 'Indonesia: Histories and Life Stories'. Besides academic papers, introduced edited interviews and relevant short fiction pieces will be considered. We will, of course, also consider papers outside of the main theme for each issue. Please refer to the call for papers page of the journal for submission details or contact the editors.
