Papers Requested for Vietnamese StudiesDear colleagues, Vietnamese Studies, an English- and French-language academic journal published in Viet Nam, is pleased to anounce planned issue topics for spring and summer 2003 as follows: 1/2003 (147): Local and Village History While the majority of articles in Vietnamese Studies are the work of scholars inside Viet Nam, the journal welcomes submissions from foreign and overseas Vietnamese writers as well. In addition to the above topics, we have limited space for articles on other subjects dealing with research in Viet Nam, as well as Viet Nam's integration into regional and global settings in relation to other cultures and societies. Manuscripts should be a maximum of 20 type-written pages and may be submitted in English, French or Vietnamese. The Editorial Board reserves the right to edit accepted articles for content, length and style. Deadlines for submitted papers are November 15, 2002, February 15, 2003, and May 15, 2003 for the above three issues, respectively. Vietnamese Studies was founded in 1964 by Dr. Nguyen Khac Vien. Early issues focused on special topics of current interest such as agriculture, neo-colonialism, and health care. Since 1983, the format has been expanded to include a variety of academic articles as well as a dossier on aspects of Vietnamese culture. Recent issues have examined Vietnamese theatre, environmental protection, and nutrition. The journal is published quarterly by The Gioi Publishers (Nha Xuat ban The Gioi), 46 Tran Hung Dao St., Ha Noi. Back issues are available on request; a CD-ROM of all previous issues, forming a "compact encyclopedia on Viet Nam," is also for sale. The Gioi also publishes the monthly magazine, Vietnam Cultural Window (on the web at www.vnn.vn/english/vncw). Submissions should be sent, preferably
in electronic format, to Tran Doan Lam, Editor-in-Chief, or Andrew Wells-Dang,
Executive Editor, at vnstudies@hn.vnn.vn
or vncw@hn.vnn.vn. |
