An announcement: In conjunction with some other faculty here at Western Connecticut State University, we have received funding for a conference on new approaches to the study of Vietnamese Relations with the West on December 2-4, 2005 (the majority of the conference will occur on December 3). Keith Taylor has agreed to be keynote speaker. A description of the conference and submission information is below and as an attachment.

VIETNAM AND THE WEST: NEW APPROACHES
The Department of History at Western Connecticut State University in Danbury, CT is pleased to announce that a conference on new approaches to the history of Vietnamese relations with the West will be held here in Danbury, CT from December 2-4, 2005. We welcome innovative scholarly approaches to this topic from a variety of disciplines, including but not limited to history, art history, political science, anthropology, and literature. Potential topics could include, but are not limited to: trade, missionaries, religion and religious conversion, diplomacy, French Indochina, the U.S.-Vietnam war, overseas Vietnamese, and recent changes in attitudes about the West.
