Graduate Student Conference on Vietnamese Studies
University of California, Berkeley
February 9 - 11, 2007
The Center for Southeast Asia Studies at the University of
California-Berkeley announces a Call For Papers for a graduate student
conference focused on Vietnamese Studies to be held February 9 - 11, 2007.
The conference is intended to provide an opportunity for young scholars to
share their research with the broader Vietnamese Studies graduate student
community. The conference committee invites submissions from graduate
students working on original research in the social sciences and humanities.
The committee hopes to receive submissions from a wide array of fields
including, but not limited to, anthropology, art history, Asian studies,
comparative literature, development studies, diaspora studies, economics,
environmental studies, ethnomusicology, film and performance studies,
folklore, history, international relations, linguistics, political science,
religious studies, sociology and urban planning. The Center for Southeast
Asia Studies expects to have some travel grants available.
Abstracts (up to 500 words maximum) should be sent to the Center for
Southeast Asia Studies at UC Berkeley by Monday, October 8, 2006, via
e-mail, fax or regular mail. The Center will send you a confirmation that
your abstract has been received by October 16, 2006. Abstracts should
include your name, institutional affiliation and full contact information
(including e-mail address). Please also indicate whether you are interested
in applying for a travel grant. Students whose papers have been selected
will be notified by Wednesday, November 1, 2006. Final papers will be due
at the Center for Southeast Asia Studies by January 16, 2007.
