Call for Papers:
Politics and Economy Update Papers
Vietnam Update, 29-30 November 2007
Australian National University, Canberra
The organizers of the 2007 Vietnam Update are seeking proposals for two
papers that examine political and economic developments in Vietnam during
2007.
Each year, the Vietnam Update conference commences with presentations on
recent politial and economic conditions in Vietnam. The two papers provide
information on key developments during the past year in politics and the
economy respectively; they also analyze trends, discuss 'hot' or emerging
issues and identify problems. The papers may also address the conference
theme for that year, although this will depend on whether the presenters
have the material or the ability to do so. The theme for the 2007 Vietnam
Update is "Education in Vietnam Today: Changes and Challenges".
The conference organizers invite those interested in presenting a paper
either on the topic of 'Recent political developments in Vietnam' or
'Recent economic developments in Vietnam' to send a proposal to conference
convenor Dr Thai Duy Bao. Email: bao.thai@anu.edu.au
The deadline for proposals is 1 June 2007. The proposals need be no longer
than one paragraph and should be accompanied by a one-page CV.
If your proposal is selected, the draft paper, no more than 10,000 words,
should be sent to the organizers by 1 November 2007.
Presenters will have half an hour to summarize their argument at the
November conference, followed by a period for questions and discussion.
Some financial assistance will be available to cover conference travel
expenses. The organizers will discuss this with individual presenters.
The organisers expect that the papers will be published within a year of
the conference, either in the conference publication or in a suitable
academic journal.
