International conference on Ancient Khmer and Mainland South East Asian Ceramics, December 13-15, 2007From: Kethya Dear all,
You are cordially invited to participate in the first conference on the subject of ancient Khmer and S.E. Asian ceramics to be hosted in Siem Reap , Cambodia . This is a first endeavor to develop a network of ceramic specialists, art historians, archaeologists, ceramists and other scholars in the field of ancient Khmer and S.E. Asian ceramics. We hope this new alliance of scholars and craftsmen and women will lead to regular conferences and meetings in future years.
Please find below the agenda and call for abstracts. (For those who have already been contacted regarding this conference, please note a revised deadline date and slight amendments to the panels).

CALL FOR ABSTRACTS
This conference aims to bring together Cambodian and international scholars specialized in ancient Khmer and mainland South East Asian ceramics, with contemporary potters and craftspeople working to revive ancient production techniques. In light of illicit trading in antiquities, the objective is to raise awareness of the archaeological importance of ancient Cambodian and mainland South East Asian ceramics, and to highlight the new opportunities for sustainable economic development in the region through contemporary ceramic technology.
Scholars based in Southeast Asia are especially encouraged to participate.
