Contemporary Challenges in Transitional Vietnam: Insights from Vietnam Studies in the United Kingdom, 29 Feb 2012, British Academy, London

Bringing together academics from across the social sciences to consider the social, economic and political challenges facing Vietnam, the workshop will provide a unique opportunity to support and publicise the innovative research being conducted in the United Kingdom on one of Southeast Asia’s fastest-growing economies. Vietnam has its sights on becoming a developed nation by 2020. But what obstacles does it face and how might these be overcome?

The event aims to have long-term impact by engaging the participation of, and developing links between, scholars, development funders and policy makers, Vietnamese postgraduate students at British universities, and key dignitaries charged with strengthening relations between the UK and Vietnam. The workshop forms part of Vietnam Academic Network (VAN-UK) activities.
