Subject: old Viet films
Dear list,
At Bich Thu Van (and, I guess, other locations in Phuoc Loc Tho/Asian
Garden Mall), I found the following old movies, both color and b&w
(before 1975) reissued on DVD: So Do, Giong To (Vu Trong Phung), Chi
Pheo (Nam Cao), and Chi Dau (Ngo Tat To). Each DVD is priced at $3.99.
I didn't check if they are willing to ship.
I haven't checked on their quality, but the general impression is that
they are not very good, except may be for the later ones like So Do
(2-DVD set).
The covers have the contact info. of the producers:
*For Giong To & So Do:
Gia Dinh Productions 714.635.1149 (USA)
or Thuy Nga Paris 0.31.45.83.23.41 (France)
or Khai Tri 03.96.898.026 (Australia)
*For Chi Dau & Chi Pheo:
Dong Do Film 714.553.1177 (USA)

Thanks for the film info. Is anyone keeping an annotated, organized
list of all these suggestions and contacts? It would certainly be useful!

Subject: TVThuy film at Video Project???
Dear List,
Maybe someone can help with this. When film director Tran Van Thuy
was in the US last fall, he was both pleased and concerned to find a
review of "The Sound of the Violin at My Lai" in "Education
about Asia"--concerned because he wondered how Video Project had
obtained the rights. He felt he might have to answer questions about
it at home.
I could call them, of course, but would like to know first if any of
you have had similar experiences, or have any advice. (I co-wrote the
article, but did not give Video Project as a source; that was added
by the editor, another obvious person to check with.)
Any help would be appreciated.

Hello
Tuluc bookstore, also located in Little Saigon, has all these films.
The good thing about Tuluc is that it has a web site for you to search
and it takes online orders. Tuluc is perhaps the biggest Vietnamese
book vendor in the US.

Hello all!
I just wanted to say that I made an order of three DVDs on Tuluc's
web pages over three weeks ago and paid quite a lot of extra for Worldwide
Express to get them quickly. I still haven't received them and the Tuluc's
reply to my inquiry was that they have handed over my order to WWE on
Dec. 18th! I would like to know whether I'm the only one facing such
a poor service. Even Europe isn't that far!
