Hello

Could someone help with what is probably a simple problem:

can the expression  (spoken) 'cu ve' be similar to "cừ việc" = its ok, don't worry?

thanks in advance

Brett

I am not in linguistic expert but I try to explain two words for you:

CU VE - you mean cứ về? If you mean cứ về so you can compare the meanings in some sentences:

 CỨ VỀ in below sentence:

- " EM/ANH/CHI ...CỨ VỀ, Tôi sẽ về sau ".

MEAN SOMEONE TELLS SOMEBODY TO LEAVE but this person is still staying and will leave later.

- "EM/ANH/CHI ...CỨ VỀ, tôi sẽ xem xét và giải quyết sau".

MEANS SOMEONE WANTS SOMEBODY TO LEAVE AND LET HIM/HER TO THINK AND TO DO SOMETHING LATER.

In sentence " Tôi cứ về, mặc kệ ai muốn ở lại thì cứ việc ở lại" means someone decides to leave although his/her friend wants to stay.

In any cases  CỨ VỀ means: to leave.

Cứ việc:

- Anh cứ việc làm cái gì anh muốn! means: you can do anything you like to do.

- Anh cứ việc ăn uống thỏa thích, tôi sẽ trả tiền. means: Eat until you feel satisfied, I will pay for you.

- Anh cứ việc đi mà kiện, tôi xem anh làm được gì nào!: go to the court to against me and see what you can do to harm me?

So cứ việc is a word usually stands in front of a verb used to emphasize the encouragement or permission for someone to do something he/she like.

cứ về is diferent from cứ việc.
