Dear List,

Can anyone suggest recent documentaries related to youth and social change in Vietnam and

where to look for it in Hanoi? I'm looking for an interesting documentary to show in a

training workshop for Vietnamese social science/public health researchers.

Thank you,

Puk Teerawichitchainan

Tagging on to this question, I'd like to ask for suggestions of where
in Hanoi to buy videos/dvd's of current or classic films -- preferably
in ntsc, but any format will do.
Specific titles would be good to know too.

Thanks!

You can buy DVD's of such classics as When the tenth month comes, Traveling Circus,Nostalgia

for the Countryside and others at the Hanoi Cinematheque on 22 Hai Ba Trung Street.

Dear Diane,

Hang Phim Phuong Nam, Vietnam, is now the main distributor of many VN
films, including classic films (less than 3$/each). You can get them
at many video shops in Hanoi and Saigon. Last summer I purchased
about 10 new DVDs at a shop on Ba Trieu Street, Hanoi. However, if
you cannot find films in Vietnam, check out the online website
http://www.vnnmall.com (California, for about 3$/each).

If you want copies of the rare films made by Hang Phim Truyen that
are not available on DVDs or tapes, I recommend that you contact Hang
Phim Truyen directly. The phone numbers and address are available
online. Three years ago, I went to Hang Phim Truyen and purchased
about 25 films for about 15 dollars each.
