Historical Note

Sephardic congregation in Seattle organized in 1909 as Ohavat Ahim, and reorganized in 1931. At various times before 1941, many of its members split off and joined other Sephardic congregations in Seattle. During and after the war the synagogue was closed. Since 1955, Ahavath Achim has been organized as a social club with approximately 60 members in 1981.

Scope and Content

Legal documents, minutes (xeroxed copies).

Included are articles of incorporation, a mortgage, by-laws, an insurance policy, #8 building contract, and the minute book for the Ladies Auxilliary from 1931-1939, two thirds of which is written in Ladino.
