The award includes a certificate accompanied by $5,000.

The award recognizes excellence in librarianship, especially as it benefits the academic community through teaching, research, learning, and innovative approaches to practice. Additional factors include creativity, innovation, leadership, enthusiasm, service, and scholarship.

Nomination and Selection Procedure

The selection committee, comprised of five members, will be appointed by the Dean of University Libraries in consultation with the Association of the Librarians of the University of Washington.  The committee will consist of three librarians, one faculty member, and one student member.  The Dean will designate one member of the committee to serve as its chair.

The selection committee will issue the call for nominations, review the letters of nomination and seek additional information as needed, including curriculum vitae, letters of support from colleagues, and evidence of the nominee’s contributions. Once a decision has been reached, the committee will forward its recommendation to the Dean of University Libraries.
