10 hours per week.
Schedule to be determined. Hours Monday-Friday between 8:00 am and 6:00 pm.


Assist in the daily operations of the monographic receiving section, or in the government publications section, of the Acquisitions and Rapid Cataloging Services (ARCS) division, Suzzallo Library.
  • Maintain shelf and workspace organization for acquisitions areas, sorting and unpacking books and other incoming purchased material, verifying incoming materials for correctness and receiving in the Libraries' Ex-Libris Alma database. Sorting, unpacking, and processing of incoming government publications.
  • Using the Libraries' Alma database, search and create records as needed for orders and gifts, identify duplication, receive and update records for incoming purchased books and other materials.
  • Expedite cataloging of certain categories of incoming materials.
  • Assist in ordering procedures and claiming of open orders.
  • Other acquisitions and general office duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Clean, legible penmanship
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to type/key quickly and accurately.
  • Able to perform detailed, routine work with accuracy.
  • Knowledge of MS Office Word and Excel.
  • Able to follow directions with minimal supervision.
  • Able to maintain scheduled hours.
  • Able to lift 45-pound boxes.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Prior library work experience.
  • Experience with library databases such as Ex Libris Alma.
  • Available to work at least two or more quarters, including summers.
  • Reading knowledge of an additional European language (French, German or Italian).
