<p>Working under the general supervision of the Research Commons librarian, Research Commons Graduate Students Specialists will be responsible for the design and delivery of research support content, as well as for maintaining Research Commons facilities and online presence.  The students selected to become members of our team will provide some combination of the following duties:</p>
<ul>
<li>Assist in the development and coordination of three ongoing interdisciplinary research-focused events in the Research Commons: the Scholars Studio: Research @the Commons series, the Collaborating with StrangersÂ® on Research at UW Workshop series, and a potential Dissertation Writing Boot Camp event. </li>
<li>Participate in the development, design and delivery of synchronous and asynchronous webinars and podcasts, and occasional in-person workshops, on research, communication and/or technology - related topics. Coordinate and staff the recording of Research Commons events.</li>
<li>Promote and market Research Commons programs and services to graduate students and other stakeholders using traditional communication and social media tools. Actively seek out student organizations and campus units for communicating about the Research Commons program and space. Communicate with Libraries and campus partners regarding Research Commons promotional efforts. </li>
<li>Work with the Research Commons Librarian to develop, implement and document multiple assessment efforts in the Research Commons.  Compile data and write reports on assessment outcomes. </li>
<li>Edit and assist with the redesign of the Research Commons website. Work to identify new and existing research tools for scholarly use and incorporate these into website redesign.</li>
<li>Provide oversight for calendar, signage, and space reservations related to Research Commons event programming.</li>
<li>Staff the Research Commons Help Desk, providing technology and information assistance to students and faculty in the Research Commons.  Provide Help Desk student staff with support and guidance in the delivery of services. </li>
<li>Train Libraries staff and Research Commons users on equipment available in the space.  Equipment includes large plasma displays, a whiteboard capture system, scanner, projectors, camcorders and microphones. </li>
<li>Assist with procuring, scheduling and mounting exhibits and interactive displays in the Research Commons.</li>
<li>Participate in regularly scheduled team meetings and on related committees and projects with partner units.</li>

<p>The UW Libraries Research Commons, located on the ground floor of the Allen Library South, provides a collaborative environment in which students and faculty can come together to share and discuss research, as well as get support for different steps of the research process: searching, writing, publishing and funding.  The Research Commons is a place to collaborate and connect with fellow students and faculty on research projects, a place for workshop and presentation opportunities, and a place for members of the UW academic community to discover what their peers and colleagues are researching.</p>
