Rate:

$15.60 per hour

Hours:

10 - 19.5 hours per week.

Weekdays: exact working schedule to be arranged upon employment.

Start Date: 16 September, 2017 (incoming students). Summer quarter 2017 option available for continuing students.

Duties:

  • Provide citation management support to members of the UW academic community. Support includes reference consultations in person and online, and the delivery of workshops and webinars.
  • Manage and create content for LibGuides on specific citation management tools.
  • Promote and market the Citation Management Tools consultation service.
  • Staff the Research Commons Help Desk, providing technology and information assistance to members of the UW community.
  • Participate in regularly scheduled team meetings and on related committees and projects with partner units.
  • Complete or contribute to other projects as assigned--for example, interdisciplinary research-focused programs held in the Research Commons, or assessment projects to learn more about Research Commons consultation services.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Evidence of excellent communication, listening, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to juggle projects, set priorities, and work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to learn new technologies quickly and in a self-directed manner.
  • Strong interest in collaborative, informal learning spaces. Passion for fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and research support in academic libraries.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with citation management tools (for example, Mendeley, Zotero, EndNote, and/or Refworks).
  • Enrollment in the iSchool MLIS graduate program.
  • Experience with and/or demonstrated commitment to working with diverse users.
  • Experience with and/or demonstrated commitment to providing in-person or online reference or instruction.
Other Job Details:

The UW Libraries Research Commons, located on the ground floor of the Allen Library South, provides a collaborative environment in which students and faculty can come together to share and discuss research, as well as get support for different steps of the research process: searching, writing, publishing, presenting and funding. The Research Commons is a place to collaborate and connect with fellow students and faculty on research projects, a place for workshop and presentation opportunities, and a place for members of the UW academic community to discover what their peers and colleagues are researching.
