Research Funding and Grants Information Service Being Planned

Betsy Wilson
Associate Director of Libraries for Public Services

The UW Libraries and the Office of Research are planning a new research funding and grants information service for faculty and librarians in schools and colleges not served by the Research Funding Service located in the Health Sciences Library and Information Center. Scheduled to open during fall quarter, the new office will be located in the Reference Section on the ground level of the Suzzallo Library and is funded by the UW Libraries, the Kenneth S. Allen Library Endowment and the Office of Research.

The office will provide faculty and librarians with a full array of grants and funding information services including a collection of printed resource materials, electronic database searches, and a current awareness service on funding opportunities. The service staff will work closely with the Office of Research to increase the distribution of information now compiled and published by other offices on campus, establish a network of faculty available to preview proposals, and organize seminars featuring faculty with a strong record of obtaining external support.
