Celebration of updated EthnoMed web site, provides online cultural information for health care workers, Feburary 9, 11am-12noon

The public is invited to learn about updates to the EthnoMed website at a celebration and demonstration on Tuesday, February 9, 11am. – Noon at the UW Health Sciences Library, 2nd Floor (view map ). A brief program begins at 11:15am, and light refreshments will be served. For more information about the celebration, see http://ethnomed.org/about/ethnomed-celebration

EthnoMed.org, a joint endeavor between the UW Health Sciences Library and Harborview Medical Center, provides information about cultural beliefs, medical issues and related topics pertinent to the health care of immigrant health for health care providers and patients.

The newly transformed EthnoMed website, funded by the National Library of Medicine and the result of a collaboration between staff, librarians and faculty at Health Sciences Library and Harborview Medical Center, utilizes a new content management system and emphasizes usability and accessibility.

Top features include:

  • Improved navigation for browsing content by cultures, clinical topics, and patient education materials
  • More frequent posting of new articles
  • New Contribution Pathways Program , which encourages UW students and faculty to submit projects for publication on EthnoMed.org
