UW Libraries Announces New Associate Dean for Research and Learning Services

Lauren Pressley

October 3, 2019 - The Vice Provost for Digital Initiatives and Dean of University Libraries, Betsy Wilson, announced that Lauren Pressley has been selected to fill the position of Associate Dean of University Libraries for Research and Learning Services (RLS) effective December 1, 2019.

Lauren is currently the Associate Dean of University Libraries and Director of the UW Tacoma Library.  She recently completed her term as President of the Association of College and Research Libraries.  She joined the UW in 2015 after distinguished service at Virginia Tech and Wake Forest universities.

“Lauren has been a transformational and innovative leader at UW Tacoma. She has an impressive record of achievement in academic libraries as well as significant contributions to the broader academic community,” said Wilson.  “In this new role, Lauren will build on her extensive experience within the Libraries to carry forth our commitment to excellence and innovation within Research and Learning Services.”

The Libraries Search Committee, chaired by the Associate Dean for Collections and Content, Denise Pan, completed a comprehensive nationwide search to fill the position left open by the retirement of Cynthia Fugate.  John Danneker, Director of Learning Services, served as the interim Associate Dean for RLS since July 2019 and will continue in that role through November 2019.
