Scholars' Studio: "Disaster" Research @ the Commons
from 04:00 PM to 05:30 PM
Preparing for a conference or scholarly presentation and looking for ideas on how to present your research? Working on a project, paper or thesis that deals with “disaster” issues? Interested in meeting scholars outside your discipline? Join us for Scholars’ Studio: “Disaster” Research @the Commons on Thursday, February 21st in the Research Commons, ground floor of the Allen Library South.
Scholars’ Studio is a fun, informal event that features 10 rapid-fire ignite-style presentations (5 minutes each) given by graduate students and postdocs doing research on topics related to an interdisciplinary theme. Our themes for the year are:
- Autumn Quarter: Citizen
- Winter Quarter: Disaster
- Spring Quarter: Pacific Northwest
Scholars’ Studio, hosted by the UW Libraries Research Commons and The Graduate School, gives students the opportunity to share their research across disciplines, make connections and build presentation skills. Talks will be followed by a Q&A with presenters, reception (snacks and beverages) and conversation. This event is open to all UW students, faculty and staff, family and friends, so please encourage others to attend!
Want to submit your "disaster" talk? Fill out our proposal form here! We look forward to some great talks!
