Washington State Chapter of the Association of College and Research Libraries
Web Page and Newsletter Publication Policy
May 2003

This policy guides the publication and maintenance of the web page and the newsletter of the Washington State Chapter of the Association of College and Research Libraries.

With oversight from the Board, the Webmaster is responsible for the publication and maintenance of the chapter web page. With oversight from the Board, the Chapter Newsletter Editor is responsible for publication and editing of the chapter newsletter. Both the Webmaster and the Newsletter Editor are appointed by the Chapter President to three-year terms and are voting members of the Board.

The chapter web page is located at http://www.lib.washington.edu/acrl-wa and the chapter newsletter, which is published electronically twice per year, is located at http://www.lib.washington.edu/acrl-wa/newsletter.htm.

The web page and the newsletter include contributions from chapter members and the Board and are designed to convey the news of the chapter (conference information, treasurer and secretary reports, information about committees, libraries, programs, people within the chapter, etc.).

The Newsletter Editor may refuse any submitted item if deemed inappropriate.

The Newsletter Editor reserves the right to edit the work to ensure good grammar, style, content and appropriate length without altering the substance of the material. The Newsletter Editor will determine when the author needs to be consulted on proposed editorial changes.

It will be assumed that any material submitted to the Newsletter Editor for consideration will not have been submitted for publication nor published elsewhere unless stated otherwise. Articles from other publications must be clearly identified so recognition can be given.

The publication of a submitted article in the Chapter Newsletter will not in any way constitute an endorsement of the materials it contains and any views expressed in submitted articles are considered solely those of the authors. The Newsletter Editor does not guarantee the factuality of any information unless otherwise expressly stated.

In the event of a challenge to the content of either the Chapter Newsletter or the web page, the Chapter Board will vote on appropriate action.
