Create a Customized Chart

  1. Download file Datasheets.xls and open with Microsoft Excel.
  2. Click and drag to highlight the table containing the data you'd like included in your chart. Be sure to include row and column headings.
  3. Click the Chart Wizard button ChartWiz (2K) on the toolbar and the Chart Wizard window opens.
  4. Select the chart type "Column" in the left-hand pane (default) and the chart sub-type "Clustered column" (the first box in the right-hand pane).
  5. Click "Next" and choose whether you want the row headings along the x-axis ("Series in Rows") or the column headings along the y-axis (" Series in Columns").
  6. Click the "Series" tab to remove categories from your data. Select the category in the box in the lower-right-hand corner that you'd like to remove and click click "Remove". You may need to switch between "Series in Rows" and "Series in Columns" on the first tab ("Data Range") to see the categories you'd like to remove.
  7. Click "Next" and you are at Step 3 of the Chart Wizard. Here there are several tabs with various options:
    • Titles - Add a title to your chart and to the x & y axes
    • Axes - Add or remove axes labels
    • Gridlines - Add or remove gridlines from your chart
    • Legend - Position the legend in your chart
