December 22, 2004 -- 2004 Excellence in Academic Libraries Award
2004 Excellence in Academic Libraries Award
During interim, the Foster Business Library hung a banner announcing the 2004 Excellence in Academic Libraries Award.
"Earlier this year, the University of Washington Libraries received the 2004 Excellence in Academic Libraries Award, which recognizes the top university research library in the country. The award is presented by the Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) and Blackwell's Book Services."
"The award recognizes the entire staff of a university library for programs that deliver exemplary services and resources to further the educational mission of the institution. The University of Washington Libraries was cited for excellence in all three areas stipulated in the criteria:
- Creativity and innovation in meeting the needs of the community
- Leadership in developing model programs which other universities emulate
- Substantial and productive relationships with faculty and students"

December 20, 2004 -- Interim hours
Interim hours, for December 18, 2004 through January 2, 2005, are:
Mondays through Thursdays, 10 am to 5 pm; closed weekends--and on December 24, 25, 31 and January 1st. Winter quarter begins Monday, January 3, 2005, when regular hours resume. During the interim, no booking is required for group study rooms, nor do keys need to be checked out at the circulation desk; the rooms are left open and unlocked.

December 6, 2004 -- Extended hours for finals
The Foster Business Library has extended hours for finals:
Friday, December 11, 8 am to 9 pm
Saturday, December 12, 9 am to 9 pm

December 2, 2004 -- EIU Online is again available
The Foster Business Library database EUI Online has been restored to full service.
December 1, 2004 -- EIU Online down
The Foster Business Library database EUI Online is down, as is the site for the Economist Intelligence Unit, the host and source for this database. The host has been notified.
