Monday, January 28, 2008: Gale Virtual Reference database down
The Foster database Gale Virtual Reference Library is down; the vendor is working to remedy the problem.
Thursday, January 24, 2008: EBSCO database down
The Foster database EBSCO is currently available only irregularly, due to an east coast Internet backbone outage. There is no estimated time this problem will be fixed but give the database a try; it might be back up.
Friday, January 18, 2008: Monday holiday
On Monday, the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday, library hours are 1pm to 5pm.
Thursday, January 17, 2008: CD-ROM databases
Now that three of the library's CD-ROM databases — Mediamark Reporter, Morningstar Principia Plus, and Simmons Choices III — are available on all of the public and Access Plus workstations in the Foster Business Library, workstation #19 has now been re-imaged as a public workstation. Datastream, formerly available only on workstation #19, will be added to the Bloomberg terminal, on workstation #20.
Wednesday, January 9, 2008: CD-ROM databases
Three of the library's CD-ROM databases — Mediamark Reporter, Morningstar Principia Plus, and Simmons Choices III — are now available on all of the public and Access Plus workstations in the Foster Business Library. Formerly, these databases were only available on workstation #19. While widely available now, in Foster, these databases are not available in other UW libraries nor from off campus.
Tuesday, January 8, 2008: Wireless in the library
During the recent interim, the library's existing wireless hubs were replaced with upgraded equipment, and additional hubs were deployed, to improve significantly the quality of wireless connectivity.
Monday, January 7, 2008: MarketResearch.Com Academic
A new market research database, MarketResearch.com Academic, has been added to the Foster Business Library database list, replacing Global Market Information Database. This new database contains comprehensive full-text market research reports covering a broad range of markets, industries, and companies from reputable market intelligence sources such as Packaged Facts and Icon Group, for U.S. and global markets, covering over 2,000 industries and products.
