  • ReferenceUSA:   On the Foster Business Library homepage, listed under Business Databases. Directory information for 12 million companies in the U.S. Companies can be searched for by name, business activity, size and location. With this database, it is possible to identify businesses by geographic area and type of business, as well as by number of employees and gross annual sales.

    The SIC code for this sort of facility appears to be 8063, for Psychiatric Hospitals; the NAICS code, 622210, Psychiatric and Substance Abuse Hospitals. There is no way, with these industry codes, to specify nonprofit organizations. A custom search for this SIC code, throughout the U.S., turned up over 13,000 organizations; for Washington state, over 200 organizations; for King County, just 57 organizations. A search for NAICS code 622210 produced over 18,000 organizations in the U.S., with over 300 in Washington state, and 75 institutions in King County.

    This database offers full text articles from thousands of scholarly journals, magazines, industry and trade periodicals, and newspapers. To find articles on specific topics, search by word or phrase by keying your search phrase into the search box. ABI/Inform Global includes journals but not national or Washington state newspapers (though the Wall Street Journal is included). It also does not include valuable trade and industry and other periodicals. Your searches will span the widest possible array of publications by expanding your search to all databases in ABI/Inform.
