The Washington Cooperative Library Project (CLP) provides access to a suite of journal and newspaper article databases from Proquest to the University of Washington and the other public universities in Washington State. This summer, the CLP will be migrating from the ProQuest collection of databases to alternative journal and magazine article databases from EBSCO, and to NewsBank Access World News for newspaper article coverage.
The EBSCO Academic Search Complete database will replace the ProQuest Research Library database as the primary, interdisciplinary "first stop" source for magazine and journal articles. Academic Search Complete provides access to over 5,500 full-text periodicals including over 4,600 peer-reviewed jounals. This will be an increase of 1,500 current full-text peer reviewed journals over ProQuest Research Library.
EBSCO Business Source Complete will replace the ProQuest ABI/Inform collection of business databases. Business Source Complete has the full-text of the Harvard Business Review and covers more than 1,200 other journals, some going as far back as 1886. The database also includes investment research reports, industry reports, market research reports and SWOT analyses.
Our newspaper coverage will increase tremendously with the addition of Access World News from NewsBank and continuing a modified version of ProQuest NewsStand for a select list of national and local newspapers. Access World News provides access to over 900 U.S. newspapers, including 20 from Washington State, and over 1,200 international papers. ProQuest NewsStand will include five national newspapers (Christian Science Monitor, LA Times, New York Times, Wall Street Journal and Washington Post) and partial or complete coverage of 18 Washington state newspapers. The combination of Access World News and ProQuest NewsStand will give us access to over 1,000 more newspapers than we currently have in our ProQuest Newspapers database.
Many of our ProQuest databases are unaffected by this change. These include: Ethnic NewsWatch, ProQuest Dissertations and Theses, Historical New York Times, Historical Wall Street Journal, Historical Los Angeles Times. See the page on ProQuest changes for a full list of ProQuest databaseas that will cease and ones that will continue after July 1.
We currently have access to all of the new EBSCO and NewsBank databases. Access to the ProQuest databases affected by this change will cease on July 1, 2008. We are working hard to make these changes as seamless as possible and we are excited to offer you this expanded collection of resources. If you have any questions about the changes or the new database, please feel free to contact us.
