John Danneker

John Danneker is the Interim Associate Dean of Research and Learning Services and Director of Learning Services. John came to the UW Libraries in 2014 as the Director of Odegaard Undergraduate Library, and he has led a re-structuring to integrate the Libraries Instructional Design Team with the staff of Odegaard into the four-unit Learning Services Department, which also includes Curriculum Support and Student Success units. Prior to moving to Seattle, John filled several roles at the libraries of The George Washington University in Washington, DC beginning in 2001, including serving as Director of the Eckles Memorial Library on the mostly-undergraduate Mount Vernon Campus from 2010-2014.

John is an active member of national library associations, including ALA, ACRL, and LLAMA.

John regularly presents on collaborations and partnerships in academic libraries, and he shares the story of the 2012-13 renovation of Odegaard in the context of planning and executing learning spaces and partnerships, and lessons learned. He actively works as a mentor in the UW Libraries, through LLAMA, and with UW campus programs, including the Husky Leadership Initiative.
