Charge

The Libraries Council will serve as a forum for communicating information, discussing and reviewing system-wide initiatives, and participating in the development of the Libraries budget and other plans. The Council also will review and make recommendations on issues that impact the Libraries as identified by the Director of University Libraries, the Libraries Cabinet, Libraries committees, and others. It will serve as a sounding board for new initiatives or opportunities presented to the Libraries and will contribute to the ongoing development, review, and implementation of the Libraries strategic plan.

In order to facilitate communication and to provide an opportunity for feedback, members will bring pertinent information to the Council about new policies, initiatives, or decisions from other groups and Libraries units such as Information Resources Council, Research and Instructional Services, Resources and Collection Management Services and Health Sciences Libraries and Information Center. Likewise, members will report decisions, plans, or policies from the Council to their respective units.

Meetings

Meetings will be scheduled on the second Thursday of each month from 8:30-10:30am.

Agendas and meeting materials will be distributed in advance of the meetings. Meeting notes will be maintained. Agendas and meeting notes will be posted on staffweb.
