Youth Theatres and Education Programs

Page contains a juried listing of teaching artists that present the highest quality performances for youth. Schools and other organizations may use the listing to contact the performers directly.

These artists have participated in a highly competitive application process and were selected by a panel of their peers for the quality of their programs. The programs are suitable for school age children (K-12).

All classes are held at Bainbridge Performing Arts (BPA), 200 Madison Avenue North, Bainbridge Island, WA

Registrations are taken on a first come, first served basis and are processed when accompanied by at least 50% of class fees due

Full tuition is due by the first class meeting

Broadway Bound also offers ongoing enrichment programs including dance lessons, voice coaching, and summer camps.  Professional theatres throughout the city (i.e., ACT, Moore Theatre, Paramount and Broadway Performance Hall) are utilized for student performances. Productions are staged by professional directors, choreographers and music directors from the Seattle theatrical community and beyond, and are completely realized with professional scenery, costumes, sound, lighting, musicians and backstage support. Enrolled students have the opportunity to participate in all aspects of theatre production.

The Broadway Center’s Education Program is one of the largest arts in education programs in Washington State, serving more than 35,000 students and teachers each year.  The Broadway Center Conservatory provides performing arts training from beginning to advanced.

Central Stage Theatre of County Kitsap

CSTOCK has consistently offered opportunities for the young people of our community not only to perform on stage after competitive auditions, but also to perform in the orchestra pit. Increasingly, young people are requesting the opportunity to learn stage management, light design and operation, orchestra direction, and set design and construction. The Summer Children’s Workshop has allowed for many Kitsap youth to participate in, and learn about all aspects of theater. It also offers Director in Training opportunity to six youth. Various other classes and workshops are offered each year.

The Columbia Gorge School of Theatre is a full-time sleep away performing arts camp on the beautiful campus of Concordia University in Portland, Oregon. It is an actor training program for youth of all ages from around the world who can't get enough theatre. We pride ourselves on providing a safe, supportive environment free of criticism and full of fun, support, and love. We feel that a rigorous theatre training program helps students gain a sense of community, improves communication skills, and raises self-esteem.

Creative Theatre Experience is a non-profit children's theatre education program that is the summer home for over 200 students in Olympia, WA. It offers fun and exciting workshops in theatre, dance, art and music, all culminating in age-appropriate, stage productions. CTE promotes creativity, builds important life skills, cultivates confidence, and provides leadership opportunities for children and youth entering first grade through high school.

SCHOOL OUTREACH PROGRAMS

Offering to 1st and 2nd grade classrooms a one hour presentation in the Bremerton area. Their professional staff will come to your classroom and provide information about puppets, story, puppet show,  ideas on making & using your own puppets for $2.00 per student with a maximum of 25 students.

For over 25 years The Heavier Than Air Family Theatre Company has been offering live musical theatre featuring a mix of professional and community actors. In addition to their seasonal offerings, they also offer an extensive 5-week summer theatre program for children between the ages of 3 through 17.

Offers a full season of productions, classes, workshops and camps for students ages 3 to 22.

Youth Education Program which includes both KIDSTAGE and Pied Piper.  KIDSTAGE is uniquely designed to use theatre to build critical life skills in each participant. In KIDSTAGE classes and rehearsals, our techniques encourage creativity, collaboration, problem solving, concentration, public speaking, and a strong work ethic.  Pied Piper brings live theatre to children and their families in the greater Puget Sound area by hosting renowned theatre, dance, and music companies for public and school performances.

KPC hosts multiple School Matinees at its theatre each year with some of the world’s finest performing artists.  Bring a professional artist directly into your classroom! KPC will work with you to tailor an arts education program to your curricular goals.

Every year, the Lakewood Playhouse teaches hundreds of children from our local community important lessons about confidence, personal responsibility, working together and creative expression.  During the classes and workshops, young actors explore all facets of theatre through the rehearsal and public performance of each fantastic story. All productions offer exciting opportunities for both actors and actresses, and provide an amazing chance for both beginning and experienced students of theatre.

Teen Summer Musical Auditions and Summer Performing Arts Academy

Mad Science offers a large selection of after-school, preschool, summer and vacation programs, workshops, special events and birthday parties. From entertaining educational programs to educational entertainment, Mad Science sparks imaginative learning.

Presented by The Mountaineers, Kitsap Forest Adventure Camps let young children play, explore and create at the beautiful Kitsap Forest Theater and feature art, music, drama, play, hiking, forest skills, creek stomping and just plain fun.

Lecture Demos, Workshops, Residencies & Master Classes

Northwest Puppet Center education programs can be tailored to ensure appropriateness for different group. Preschool through high school are the primary focus of education programs but courses are also taught for adults including university accredited courses.

Olympia Junior Programs is a non-profit organization of community volunteers doing year-round behind-the-scenes work to present elementary school students in Thurston County and beyond with quality theater experiences.

Young Playwrights Festival

Red Eagle Soaring Native Youth Theatre (RES) exists “to empower American Indian and Alaska Native youth to express themselves with confidence and clarity through traditional and contemporary performing arts.”

Seattle Children's Theatre produces new works and classics of children's literature for the stage. Their mission is to provide children of all ages access to professional theatre, with a focus on new works, and theatre education.

Summer productions, camps, classes, and technical internships.

Seattle Shakespeare Company's education department annually serves more than 24,000 youth in the Seattle area and across Washington State through programs in classrooms and in our theatre. In our summer and after-school Shakespeare camps, young actors develop their skills and gain hands-on production experience.

Launched in 1946 by The Junior League of Spokane, Spokane Children's Theatre continues today as one of the few community children's theatre groups in the country completely independent from sponsorship by any other theatrical or education or religious institution. Spokane Children's Theatre is the oldest theatre organization in the Spokane area.

Summer and youth programs including classes and camps

Thistle Theatre is a professional puppet theatre for families performing in Bellevue, Ballard and Seattle.Daytime school performances are offered at all three locations. Theatre Theatre tours to school and communities specializing in the Bunraku-style of puppetry.

The WICA Conservatory provides challenging, innovative, high quality arts education to students of every age, cultural heritage, ability, and level of interest.

Conservatory classes are taught by working professionals and teaching artists, and are tied to WICA’s core programming.

Offers Artists in Schools program and 120 classes and summer camps each year. Geared toward students of all ages, VAA offers classes in dance, pottery, fine arts, music and theatre.

Young Shakespeare Workshop gathers students together to create a new community bound by a love of words. Students begin work on sonnets, progressing to speeches and scenes during their first year, and work on an entire play as returning students.
