Class Descriptions/Objectives

This one-session class will introduce and analyze the evolving models and standards of Chinese digital Collection management and services in North America, specifically; the focus will be the case studies on the related models and standards. Combining with the reading material (which represents the access and service standards that UC requires for its digital vendors), the goal of this class is to help the attendees to understand the different models and current mainstream standards that related to the Chinese digital collection management and services in North America, then to apply what they have learned to their daily works in their own environment. The 90 min session will be divided into two parts: Lecture (60 min.) and discussion (30 min.). The discussion part will be further dived into: 5 min. for drafting a Chinese digital collection and service plan for each attendee’s institution, 10 min. for the divided small group discussion, 10 min. for the group elected speakers to address to the whole class, and 5 min. for the wrap-up comments from the instructor.

Assignment Due Date: Due to the instructor at the end of the workshop and to the attendee’s director supervisor after the workshop.
