Access to EAL Auxiliary Stacks and Special Collections

In addition to the East Asia Library's main stacks in Gowen Hall, there are some materials stored in areas where access is restricted:

EAL Auxiliary Stacks (Kane Hall)

Due to space constraints, much of the EAL collection is stored in our Auxiliary Stacks in Kane Hall. Access is available by appointment. (Contact the Information Desk on floor 3 of Gowen Hall or call 206-543-4490.)  For more information, read about how to use the EAL auxiliary stacks.

EAL Special Collections

EAL Special Collections contains valuable and unique rare books as well as other types of materials that require special security measures to ensure they will be available for years to come. These materials are housed in secure, non-browsing stacks and are retrieved for users upon request. For more information, including how to request materials, see the Using the East Asia Library Special Collections page.

The EAL Special Collections page has links to information about some of these special materials.
