Finding Articles and Conference Papers
Finding the Appropriate Index
Since the
UW
Libraries Catalog does not contain any information on
individual articles or conference papers, the first step is to use an
appropriate paper or electronic index of articles.
The subject of your topic will determine which paper index(es) and/or
database(s) to search. Consult the list of
Engineering, Scientific and Technology databases available through the UW Libraries or browse the complete list of databases and catalogs at the UW.
Finding the Articles in a Journal or Conference Proceeding
Once you have identified articles of interest, you will need to determine whether
the
source is held by the UW Libraries. The source is
usually a
journal
or periodical title, but it may also be a
conference
proceeding,
standard,
technical report, or chapter in a
book.
If the
source (journal, periodical, conference proceeding, etc.)
is not in the UW Libraries collection, you can request that we acquire a
copy for you by using
UWorld Express.
Note: this service is available to current UW faculty, staff,
and students (excluding Health Sciences and Law).
