Finding Conference Proceedings
Is it in the UW Libraries' Collection?
As with books, the primary source for finding conference proceedings at
any of the
UW Libraries is the
UW
Libraries Catalog. This database of almost 2 million titles
lists the library unit, the location within that unit, and whether the item
is currently checked out.
Note: The proceedings from a conference may be cataloged
individually (like a book) or as a series (like a periodical), therefore
it is often helpful to use a keyword search (using words from the
conference title) when trying to locate the conference
proceeding.
You may also consult the Engineering Library New
Books List, a weekly update of titles added to the
Engineering Library.
Is it at another Library?
There are many sources for searching for procceedings not held by the
University of Washington Libraries, such as:
- OCLC
WorldCat - a database of over 30 millions records from libraries
around the world
- Other libraries' online catalogs
How do I get a Conference Proceeding not held by the UW
Libraries?
If the proceedings that you are looking for are not in the UW Libraries
collection, you can:
- Check the Orbis Cascade Alliance
catalog to see if the material is available at another Washington or Oregon library. Orbis Cascade Alliance borrowing privileges are limited to current UW students, faculty and staff.
- Request to have the item borrowed from another institution through
UWorld Express.
-
Request that the Libraries purchase the item, via the Purchase Request Form
However, if you are only in need of selected papers, within that
proceedings, you may request them directly through
UWorld Express.
