The Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI) is a voluntary,
nonprofit organization comprised of the manufacturers of air
conditioning, refrigeration, and heating products. The
more than 60 standards now published are mainly performance-rating
standards, although some are application or terminology
standards. Many AHRI standards are accepted as American National Standards.

The American Association of State Highway & Transportation Officials (AASHTO) is a nonprofit, nonpartisan association representing
highway and transportation departments in the 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. It is the only national public sector association
that represents all five transportation modes: air, highways, public transportation, rail and water.
Its primary goal is to foster the development, operation and maintenance of an integrated national transportation system.
Some of the major AASHTO publications which include standards are Standard Specifications for Transportation Materials and Methods
of Sampling and Testing:(Engineering Standards TE200 .A428), Standard Specifications for Highway Bridges:
(Engineering Reference TG310 .A6), and Guide Specifications for Highway Construction, 1998:
(Engineering Reference TE180 .G85 1998).

Concrete Institute

The American Concrete Institute (ACI) serves the various components of the
concrete industry. It has about one hundred technical
committees,
and the documents produced by these committees
are arranged into five groups in the six-part Manual of Concrete Practice (MCP) which includes almost all of the Institute's
codes, standards, and committee reports.
They include
research and administration, materials and properties
of concrete, design and construction practices, structural analysis, and
special products and processes.

The American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) is composed of 132 technical standards
writing committees. They have published approximately 9,100
standard specifications, tests, practices,
guides, and definitions for materials, products, systems, and
services.
ASTM has published standards dealing with metals, flammability,
chemical products, lubricants, fossil fuels,
textiles, paint, plastics, rubber, pipe, forensic sciences,
electronics, energy, medical devices. A

ASHRAE, the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and
Air-Conditioning Engineers is an international organization of
50,000 persons with chapters throughout the world. The Society is
