This Web exhibit is based on an exhibition prepared by the University of Washington Libraries' Special Collections and Preservation Division in and shown on the Allen Library Exhibition Balcony from January 1997 to March, 1997. This exhibition was created in conjunction with a traveling exhibition, The Frontier in American Culture.
The Frontier in American Culture traveling exhibition for libraries is organized by the American Library Association and the Newberry Library, Chicago. It is supported by a generous grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities. Additional funding at the University of Washington has been provided by the University Libraries, The Kenneth S. Allen Library Endowment Fund, Center for the Study of the Pacific Northwest, and the College of Education.
