American Factfinder -- Population,
housing, economic and geographic information from the 1990 and 2000 Censuses.
Continues to change weekly as new counts are released.
Washington State
Very
basic Washington data (.pdf format) -- from the "short form" or 100% data,
known as "Summary File 1".
Detailed Washington
data (.pdf format) -- from the "long form" or sample data, known as "Summary
File 3". (From the Washington State Office of Financial Management.) Scroll
down through the list to select a city, county, reservation, etc. -- each
is a four-page .pdf file. Find similar four-page profiles for the rest of
the United States at http://censtats.census.gov/pub/Profiles.shtml.
Population counts for Washington
counties, cities and towns (.pdf format) -- Includes age, sex, race, Hispanic
origin, and household characteristics as part of the "Profiles of General
Demographic Characteristics" (DP-1) series. Note that this is a 617-page file
in .pdf format (not good on slow computers). Another
view of county profiles is available from the Washington Office of Financial
Management (ascii and .pdf available).
Data
and Maps for Seattle are supplied by Seattle.gov.
Population counts for King,
Kitsap, Pierce and Snohomish County census tracts (.pdf format) -- Includes
total population, race and Hispanic origin only, from the Puget
Sound Regional Council. You must know your tract number; online
tract maps (.pdf format) are available (these are easy to navigate if
you open the file, then adjust the zoom to 400% -- look in lower left corner
of Adobe Acrobat screen). Some researchers prefer to use the Reference
Maps available from American Factfinder, which require zooming in through
several layers.
Top
Fifteen -- Washington State (.pdf format) -- Population rankings for the
fifteen most populous counties and cities in Washington State.
Racial
breakdowns -- Washington State (.pdf format) -- Scroll down to "Redistricting

United
States data (.pdf format) -- The most up-to-date Census figures for the
U.S. as a whole (very basic numbers).
Population counts for any
state, county, city or town -- First choose your state from the list,
then select the .pdf file (unless you wish to import the zipped file into
a spreadsheet such as Excel for statistical manipulation and/or reformatting).
Includes age, sex, race, Hispanic origin, and household characteristics as
part of the "Profiles of General Demographic Characteristics" (DP-1) series.
Geographic files for use with GIS
Cartographic Boundary Files may be downloaded from http://www.census.gov/geo/www/cob/.
The boundary files available here are selected generalized extracts from the
Census Bureau's TIGER geographic database and are designed for use in a Geographic
Information System (GIS) or similar mapping system. They are not map images.
CensusCD
