Source data is presented chiefly within a single subfield, its elements delimited in a manner which to EndNote is often ambiguous. This filter will attempt a token amount of parsing, but it is sometimes inaccurate. In such cases, look in the Notes field for partial or complete source data, which must be manually parsed after downloading. records too large to be imported into EndNote will be truncated. LIMITATIONS 1. Pages are often represented by the first page followed by the total number of pages in parentheses. Users must manually convert this to a range after importing, e.g. 339(6) --> 339-34. Sometimes page numbers are represented by a string of chracters, e.g. pBKPO14860910. It is not known what these numbers mean, but they will be imported into the Pages field anyway and must be manually removed after importing. 2. Gale makes no distinction between journal and popular magazine articles, therefore, both are imported as journal articles. This filter is set up to recognize The New York Times by its ISSN, importing it as a newspaper article. Users may add ISSNs to thhe filter but it is not possible to add them for all the newspapers in existence. 3. Pagination for newspapers is complex and so is imported into the Pages field in its entirety. Users must manually separate the section from the page number and delete any unwanted information. The same is true for The New York Times Magazine (and possibly others), which has characteristics of both a newspaper and magazine article.
