More about the pilot project

This project is a response to the results of the UW Libraries 2007 triennial survey. When asked to choose from a list of possible new services, more than 70% of graduate students and faculty selected on-demand scanning of print journals free of charge. The long-term goal is to provide this service on a permanent basis. The pilot project will allow the Libraries to determine actual demand for the service and make budget projections. Of course, because the UW budget is uncertain, the final decision about permanent implementation is also uncertain.

While there are no costs for you, there are costs for the UW Libraries. These include staff, equipment, supplies, the fees charged by other libraries and copyright fees. Because of this, there are some limitations to the service.
