2:00-4:00 p.m. Washington Map Interest Group Organizing Discussion and Map Give-Away.
An organizational meeting to foster networking among map librarians in the PNW region. Mary Douglass, Seattle Public Library, will be giving away lots of maps as a result of her overhaul of the SPL map collection. And of course, any WAML member is welcome to attend, regardless of their state of residence.

Those who indicate on their registration form that they will attend this session will be sent directions to the Seattle Public Library Annex by email prior to the start of the conference.

Shacks to Urban Villages: Maps in a City Archives

Characteristics of maps in the Seattle Municipal Archives, how maps are used by researchers, and the nuts and bolts of building a map database will be discussed in this session. Challenges facing archivists cataloging maps in a municipal archives will also be addressed.

Field Trip to Mt St Helens National Volcanic Monument Bus transportation will leave from in front of the Panana Hotel. This trip will take a MINIMUM of 12 hours.
