Federal and State Elections

• Follow the Money: Maintained by the National Institute on Money in State Politics, this site shows "what specific businesses or contributors-or all contributors in any of 115 interest groups-invested in elections in your state. Or, find out what they gave regionally, or nationally".

• Issues 2000: This site provides information about "Every Presidential Candidate on Every Issue". It also provides information about topics in the news, Senate races in each state, and coverage of other races are "coming soon!"

• National Association of Secretaries of State: This site links to the website of your state's Secretary of State. Visit the State of Washington Office of the Secretary of State for election information.

• Project Vote Smart provides information on over 13,000 candidates and elected officials, including President, Congress, governors and state legislators. Such information includes biographies, campaign finances, issue positions, performance evaluations and voting records.

• U.S. Electoral College: This site provides a procedural guide to the Electoral College, a list of states and their electoral votes, an archive of electoral votes cast by state from 1789 through 1996, and much more.

• Opposing Views: Every issue in the news has at least two sides. This website has been designed to help map out the political terrain and locate at least some of those interest groups that articulate and promote the myriad different viewpoints that drive political debate.

• Political Advocacy Groups: Political Parties
  This site provides a list of national "cause lobbyist" organizations. As defined by Alan Rosenthal in his 1993 book The Third House: Lobbyists and Lobbying in the States a "cause lobbyist" advocates for or against a particular cause like environmentalism or feminism instead of on behalf of a corporation. The organizations or groups are arranged by subject categories or in an alphabetical list. Each organization entry has a description and contact information.
