Once you have located a film or cd that interests you take a look at the record. You will want to double check that the location is Odegaard Media and that the status of the item says available. If it is not currently available there will be a due date in the status box. If the item is available, write down the call number and bring it to the Media Center service window where the staff will retrieve the item for you. If is is checked out you may place a hold on the item using the Place Hold/ Request button at the top of the screen. You will need your library card number (on the back of your Husky Card) and a library PIN number to place a hold. For items where the location is NOT Odegaard Media, for example Bothell or Tacoma, please contact the UW Libraries Media Center at Odegaard to arrange to have the item sent to Seattle for viewing.

Another helpful hint: when you find an item of interest, scroll down to find links to similar items. Use these links to lead to items about the same subject, films and music in the same genre, by the same director or musical group, or staring the same major actor. For example, from this record of the film Life is Beautiful, you could link to other works of drama about World War II, other films in Italian, other comedy films, other works by the director Vincenzo Cerami, or other films which feature actors Roberto Benigni or Marisa Paredes.
