DC Element: Language

The language used for the intellectual content of the resource. The UW Libraries has used this field whenever non-English resources were included in a collection.

Examples of field names:

• Language

Examples of data:

• Russian
• Thai

Recommended format:

• Natural language names ("English", "Vietnamese") rather than codes (used by UW Libraries projects)
• Dublin Core recommends the ISO 639 standard code list, but the UW Libraries felt that for end-user searching in CONTENT, the full language names make more sense than codes.
