The Basics

The Basics

1. Introduction
2. Primary and Secondary sources
3. Scholarly and Popular Approaches
  4. Basics review

The Basics covers topics that are important to understand when doing searches for music literature. These sections are intended to help you narrow down the type of source that you are looking for, which should improve the quality of results you find.

Primary and Secondary Sources will deal with the topic of context in research, while Scholarly and Popular Approaches compares two different approaches used in creating resources. These two topics are independent of one another--for example, a secondary source can be scholarly or popular.
