Searching for Music Literature is an interactive online tutorial for searchers wanting an introduction to music research skills. The tutorial covers the types of sources that are available for information about music, focusing on books, encylopedias, and journals, including what one is likely to find in them, how to find them, and numerous examples.

If you are looking for help searching for scores or recordings, try using Finding Books, Scores, Recordings, and Videos, from the UW Music Library homepage.

Searching for Music Literature is intended to help improve how you research, so you will be able to conduct more efficient and more successful searches. The tutorial includes links to other resources which also may help in your searches, and is likely to be most successful when combined with meetings with your instructor or with librarians.
