"Botanical Illustration: Art Meets Science" Exhibit to Run January 6 through February 27, 2009


"Botanical Illustration: Art Meets Science" is an exhibit featured in the UW's Suzzallo Library, Room 102, January 6 through February 27, 2009.  It is free and open to the public. The exhibit features illustrated botanical works from the collections of the University of Washington Libraries and the UW Botanic Gardens' Elisabeth C. Miller Library. The exhibit is supported by an award from the UW Libraries Excellence Fund and designed by Natural Sciences librarians Kari J. Anderson and Kathy M. Carr.

Public Lecture and Reception Friday, January 9th at 2:00 pm

Seattle botanical artist and educator Louise Smith will be speaking on the history of botanical illustration on Friday, January 9th, at 2 PM in the University of Washington's Odegaard Undergraduate Library, Room 220.  The talk will be followed by light refreshments and is in conjunction with the exhibit Botanical Illustration: Art Meets Science. The lecture and reception are free and open to the public.  They are supported by an award from the Libraries Excellence Fund.
