Note:
If the records you wish to export are on a single search results page, you can bypass instructions 3 through 7 below. Simply mark your records and click the
Save button in the
Output Records area at the bottom of the page.
When prompted, choose the
Save to Disk option and then click the
Save button to save the file to your computer. In RefWorks, you can import the file following the instructions below starting at step #8.
- Conduct your search.
- Select the records you want to export by clicking the checkbox to the left of each citation and then clicking the Add to Marked List button at the top of the results list.
- Click on the Marked List link near the top of the page when you are ready to export your citations to RefWorks.
The link will take you to the Web of Science Marked Records Output Options Form.
- In Step 1 of the form, leave the Author, Title, Source, and ISSN boxes checked. Also click the abstract checkbox if you want to export the abstract along with each citation to RefWorks.
- In Step 2 of the form, do not make any changes. The drop-down menus should say Field Tagged and Other Reference Software.
- Then in Step 2 of the form, click the Save to File button.
- In the dialog box, select the option to Save to Disk and click the Save button to save the file to your computer.
In RefWorks:
- Log in to RefWorks if you have not already done so.
- In the toolbar at the top of the page, click on the References menu and select Import.
- On the Import page, select ISI (Institute for Scientific Information) from the Import Filter/Data Source drop-down menu.
- In the Database drop-down menu, select Web of Science.
- Select the option to Import Data from the following Text File.
- Click the Browse button to select the file you downloaded and saved to your computer in the previous steps.
- Click the Import button.
- Your records will appear in the Last Imported Folder.
